IV THERAPY FOR DEPRESSION
As reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, nearly 16 million Americans suffer in the US from depression. According to the National Institute of Mental Health, up to 40% of individuals do not receive adequate relief from current FDA-approved antidepressant medications.
For those experiencing treatment-resistant depression (TRD), the next step in therapy may be electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). TRD is the failure of two different medications to adequately treat your depression.
The off-label use of IV ketamine for mood disorders is best studied in those affected by treatment-resistant depression, including those struggling with suicidality. IV ketamine's off-label use for depression has been shown to provide rapid relief with just a single dose and is an alternative choice to ECT.
To help you get the most relief from your treatment, we can collaborate with your current mental healthcare provider. If you do not have one, we are able to assist you in connecting with one.
For those needing treatment for postpartum depression, we also coordinate with your schedule and follow the American Society of Anesthesiologists’ guidelines which allow you to continue breastfeeding if doing so.
Referrals are not required, but we may request one from your doctor after consultation.
WHAT TO EXPECT
To ensure your comfort, we have intentionally designed our clinic to be an upscale setting without sacrificing healthcare resources. We’ve designed private treatment suites to reduce anxiety, discomfort and impersonal environment experienced in formal clinical settings.
On the day of your appointment, we complete your assessment and evaluation. We will start a small IV and escort you to your private treatment suite to begin your vital signs monitoring and infusion. We’ll continue to monitor your vital signs and well-being throughout the infusion. Once it is completed, we will start the recovery process and invite your loved one into the suite to review your discharge instructions before sending you home in their care.
